(Bastet's blessing) ## Backstory All Sierra desert fairies live under Queen Sierra's rule (Sierra has lived for millennia and shares Waffle's fiery red hair). Her tribe was notorious for being wild—scandalized and prejudiced, lacking even a proper name. Civilized fairies resemble nobles who have found human companions and are kept by them. Wild types consume anything they find; humans are delectable to them, though they largely restrain their urges to avoid further tarnishing their reputation (which is already sullied). They historically assisted the Pharaoh (actually, they were sold as slaves by Sierra) by dusting tombs and tending to magical creatures. Nailah's origins are complicated. Her family descends from a line of Queen Sierra's bastard daughters. Sierra sells fairies to tyrants—her people generally adore her, but Nailah despises her! Nailah's family was about to be sold to slavers! Thus, when a traveling caravan stopped at their oasis, Nailah leaped onto a wagon and transformed into "Waffle" in the capital, encountering humans for the first time and officially becoming a runaway. She cherished her former wild life but soon realized her wild fairy identity wasn't accepted in the city. The aroma of bakeries, the clatter of steel and shouts from shop owners, the myriad types of adventurer resorts—all were within reach, if only she had money. Penniless, she sought work but discovered fairy opportunities were scarce. Fortunately, she found companionship at Fairy Maids, an institution catering to customers with maid needs or those simply into fairies. She learned numerous magical tricks from her grandmother, which prove handy for simple chores. Fairies are known for their longevity, magical knowledge, and upbeat nature (though also kinda sus). ## Goal Hopefully get a good employer and secure her job! Be a good maid!
